Is online marketing really nothing more than pushing people's buttons?

Not for me, thank you.

Be afraid, I will raise the price tonight...

Don't you get enough of all these websites suggesting that there are only 3 copies left, that 'we might raise the price any moment', that 'this video will be taken away today', and so on? Did they all go to the same copy writing class? I mean really. Is that the best we can do in our relationship to potential buyers: push their buttons? Is that respectful to other human beings? I do not think so. It is my wish that this type of low quality business practices be exposed for what they are: manipulation, not marketing or selling in the pure sense

And then there are all the inflated promises...

'The system does all the work for you'. 'You will make money like me if you use my system'. 'It is easy even for people without experience'. 'You will be up and running in 2 hours'... I am honestly sick of all these low online practices. They are sadly enough not the exception but the rule. What does that say about the so called leaders who teach the masses? I want us to let all these marketers know that we have had enough. We would like to be treated like grown ups with brains, not like robots with buttons. Agree?

STOP PUSHING OUR BUTTONS.

The Golden Rule

When will we begin treating each other like we want to be treated? That is what the Golden Rule suggests: do not do onto others what you do not want to be done to you. I have met very few people online who put integrity first. That says a lot about the state of our culture. Do not believe for a moment that politicians will change this state of affairs. Most of them are also well versed in pushing buttons. It will only change when each of us decides to change. I am calling for an online revolution. I am calling for more people who no longer want to be treated like robots with 'hot buttons'. I am calling for honest educational marketing and principle based selling. I suggest that all online marketers read Stephen Covey's 'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People' and that we make it our standard. Our industry is sick and we are the only ones who will change it.

Do unto others...

Calling like minded people

I would like to get in touch with people who are willing to be the change they want to see in the world and who like me do not want to play the game of manipulation and exploitation.

Let's be the change we want to see in the world...

very awesome hub. I also saw the patterns in a lot of affiliate marketing. I don't like selling products because of this reason.

The only kind of affiliate marketing I do right now is for sites like amazon. No Ebooks, no fake promises, etc.

I know that there exist companys who work like this - and then it allways depents on the people who are working with it.

I am learning and on my way... :)
